Friends of UM History Opportunity Fund

This special, unrestricted fund helps the department support some of its most critical ongoing needs, including support for student and faculty research and travel; public lectures and community events; upgrading our facilities; and so on. Hampton Public History Fund 

Named to honor former history professor H. Duane Hampton (a.k.a. "Hamp") and his commitment to public outreach, our endowed Hampton Fund supports the H. Duane Hampton Public History Program. Harry Fritz Fund for Student Achievement  

To honor Professor Fritz, we have established a special endowed fund that reflects Harry's particular commitments to students, student research, and community building. Robert H. Greene Memorial Fund

The History Department has been touched by those wishing to honor our fallen comrade, Professor Robert H. Greene, with a gift to the department in his name. We first used these funds to remodel the History Department's seminar room and rename it The Robert H. Greene Memorial Seminar Room. Located in History's wing of UM's Liberal Arts building, this room has long been our most important teaching space and the hub of our intellectual community. In it, Robert spent countless hours mentoring undergraduates, directing their research projects, and leading seminar-style classes. It is where he provided invaluable feedback to colleagues and graduate students presenting their works in progress at our Lockridge Workshop. And it is where Robert met with alums and friends of the department and gathered faculty for department meetings and special events. Robert left his mark on this space and those who joined him in it. Now, we have marked this space with his name and in his honor. Our new seminar room officially opened its door in Fall 2022, immediately housing several seminar-style classes and a series of meetings and events.
